Green-conscious pensioners will no longer have their payments docked for feeding solar energy back into the national grid. In its latest backdown, the Government has ruled that money earned from solar roof panels will not affect pensions. The Herald Sun revealed last month that the Government was treating power credits or rebates as income for individual social security assessments. This meant that people who fixed solar panels to their roofs and sold excess electricity back to power companies were having their pensions cut. The Herald Sun - Saturday 15th May 2010 |
